Semi-Annual Sale Finds at V.S.

It’s that time of year!! The Semi-Annual Sale at Victoria’s Secret has always been one of my favorite times to stock up on lingerie. Shopping the sale in stores can be really frustrating though. As a seasoned shopper, and former sales associate of this lovely store, I wanted to share some tips on how to navigate the madness in stores and also get the best deals!

So, it’s actually been a while since I have shopped the Semi-Annual Sale in stores. I worked as a sales associate during graduate school in 2013 and 2014, and it was always chaos. Since then I have primarily shopped online… I’m not sure if it was PTSD or just sympathy for the those working the sale that kept me away so long…but this year I ventured back into the madness of lace and lingerie.

So, I think some advantages to shopping in stores are:

  1. The stores will usually have different items than what you will find online.
  2. You can try everything on.
  3. Everything is wayyyy cheaper! Especially toward the end of the sale.

I actually bought the majority of my pieces this year in stores, and then went online to get  a few extra things that I had my eye on.

See below Winter 2017 additions to the Lingerie Closet:

These are my favorite purchases from this year’s sale!! I am absolutely in love with this romper. I actually bought it in two colors (“smoked plum” and red). It is really so flattering, and perfect for Sunday tea parties at home. Also- side note- this piece was not featured on the online sale!

Another favorite is this adorable robe. I think floral patterns are just so pretty and the mix of colors on this one is perfect. I’ve already worn it with so many different things!

I also had to get more lace shorties; these are becoming one of my favorite styles
(Note: these are from the Body by Victoria collection).

Another in store purchase… I was actually pretty pleased with myself for finding three matching sets during the semi annual sale! I have a small obsession with matching, I’ll write more on that here. All of these are from the Dream Angels collection, which has always been my favorite (everything about this collection is very romantic and feminine). Unfortunately, some of the bottoms were not included in the sale – so I had to do a little searching around to find the full sets. I was just so happy to find everything!
(This is an important tip for shopping in stores or online:
Don’t just search the sale rack/bin if you’re looking for matching sets.)

I think my favorite of these sets is the high-neck metallic top in ensign blue. It is so festive for winter and really different than anything else I own. I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet…mostly because I’m not sure what I would wear it under. A turtle neck is the obvious choice. I may also try wearing it alone with just a blazer and high-waist pants.
We will see 😉

I adore this piece so much! I ordered it online, and it is even more lovely in person. I think this bodysuit is actually pretty conservative. I would totally wear this out with jeans or a cute skirt. Also, the back is almost all mesh, with just a little detailing. There wasn’t a photo online showing the back, so this was a nice surprise!

Finally, I found these last two items online as well…
I just had to order a matching bra to go with the “smoked plum” shortie I found in stores.  I am really really loving this color!
(Another tip: start with shopping the sale in stores and finish online).

Lastly, these sleep shorts were too cute, I had to get them. I love the pattern, and they were at such a great price.  Bonus points, they are also really comfortable!

That’s all for today….
I hope you all enjoyed the latest updates from the Lingerie Closet 🙂

Until next time.

Incorporating Lingerie into your Daily Style Part 2 (NYE)

Happy 2017!!!

Last week I shared some thoughts on incorporating lingerie into your daily style. This is a new venture for me, so I am sharing my experiences with this on the blog.

I tried out look#2 (you can read more on that here) last night.
My general thoughts on this outfit are:

I wore this jumpsuit and teddy combo out for dinner and drinks with my girlfriends last night, and I don’t think anyone even noticed this was lingerie!! I was a little nervous at first, because I am typically a more conservative person when it comes to how I dress. I sent out this photo to three of my closet friends, asking if it was “too much,” to which they gave me mixed reviews. I decided to just go for it and I honestly felt more comfortable wearing this than most of the clothes I wear on a daily basis.

Logistically speaking, I think you could go one of two ways with this particular outfit. When I ordered this jumpsuit, it was pictured on the model with a bralette underneath the mesh top. I think this is a darling option, especially if you are feeling super great about your body or if the weather is nice. However, I think for winter and for those of us still holding onto a few holiday pounds, the teddy is a nice alternative because it provides a little extra coverage in the torso area. It is also the slightly more conservative option…which I really like. Oh! And I really loved the lace and mesh combo.

With that, I am really feeling inspired to try out more looks like this & get more daily wear from my lingerie closet. I owe a great deal of gratitude to my sweet friend K. who fully embraces the “less is more” notion in her fashion choices. She really has given me so much courage to wear whatever I feel most comfortable in, regardless of what anyone thinks.

My lovely friend also has great taste, and deserves a style inspiration shout out!
I had to share her outfit from brunch today. She wore this gorgeous mesh bodysuit with metallic gold applique and paired it with black leggings. I think this is just such an elegant look (see more style inspiration like this here under look#3).

This bodysuit really is such a statement piece. Every time she wears it she is simply the most well dressed person in the room.

Unfortunately the boutique where she purchased this amazing piece closed this past October, but I still had to share…

Until next time ❤

Incorporating Lingerie into your Daily Style

This winter I have been loving the fact that mesh, tulle, velvet, and lace have made a huge style come-back. There is something oh so feminine about these delicate, and often sheer, fabrics. I also have seen an opportunity in this “less is more” notion to incorporate lingerie into my every day style! Doing so in a classy manner is, of course, tricky. However, I have found that, with a little effort, it can be done ❤

Here is some style inspiration for my favorite looks this winter:

1). Instead of a crop top, pair a cute bustier with a chic blazer and high waist pants (which will complement a high waist matching panty). This velvet bustier is perfect for the holidays and even comes in three colors (pictured here: Ensign, and Ruby Wine or Black)!

I think this is such a simple and classic look. Tie it together with timeless Mary Janes (these are very comfortable, by the way), a playful choker, and you’re ready to go!

2). I have been seeing mesh everywhere lately! I recently ordered this “semi-sheer mesh jumpsuit” and was surprised at how much I liked it (especially for the price!) Online it is pictured on the model with an adorable bralette. I like this, but as a slightly more conservative alternative, I tried it with a lace teddy and loved it!

I think these two teddies are perfect to pair with this particular jumpsuit, as they both have an open, strappy back that really adds to the look. The high neck teddy comes in six different colors, if you want to get really creative! In my opinion any of these combinations would be perfect. I just love the layering of lace and mesh. It is so feminine and subtly sexy!

3). Another thing I have been loving about winter fashion (in the lingerie world) are long sleeve bodysuits! These can really be paired with anything. I have worn them under a little black dress and with jeans. However, my favorite combination thus far has been to pair them with a little black skirt! Again this is such a simple look, but it is a great way to get daily wear out of your lingerie ❤
